Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Hospitalist or Nocturnist - Department of Medicine in New York, New York
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is one of the world’s premier cancer centers, committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and superb educational programs. The blending of research with patient care is at the heart of everything we do. The institution is a comprehensive cancer center whose purposes are the treatment and control of cancer, the advancement of biomedical knowledge through laboratory and clinical research, and the training of scientists, physicians and other health care workers.
We have built an outstanding team of hospitalists over the past 15 years, and we are continuing to grow. We currently have daytime and nocturnist positions available in the Hospital Medicine Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Our hospitalists are all internal medicine trained/boarded; no specific training in medical oncology is required. The primary focus is coverage of the inpatient medical service at Memorial Hospital, the main clinical site of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Daytime hospitalist responsibilities include:
Leading an inpatient team with primary responsibility for the care of hospitalized patients, overseeing housestaff, medical students, and/or APPs
Ample protected non-clinical time to pursue academic areas of interest
Nocturnist responsibilities include:
Admitting patients to the medical service and providing some cross-coverage
Supervising and teaching housestaff and APPs
7 PM to 7 AM shifts with flexible scheduling
Both positions include opportunities to participate in teaching, quality improvement projects, research, and other academic opportunities in line with the individual’s strengths and passions.
Our ideal candidate will have: outstanding acute clinical skills; ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team; superior communication skills; and board certification/eligibility in internal medicine. There is excellent growth potential for a candidate who seeks a fulfilling career in academic hospital medicine. The nocturnist position is also appropriate for candidates seeking to fill a “gap year.”
