Job Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in every 25 patients admitted to acute-care hospitals in the United States each year acquire infections that were not related to the condition for which they were hospitalized. Approximately 1.7 million healthcare-associated infections (HAI) occur in U.S. hospitals each year, resulting in 99,000 deaths and an estimated $20 billion in healthcare costs.

Although the precise causes HAI’s are difficult to identify, experts believe that about a third could be prevented using current recommendations. The goal of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Infection Control program is to provide the safest healthcare environment for our patients by using evidence-based guidelines to prevent HAIs and to engage in clinical and translational research to further the mission of infection prevention among oncology settings.

We are seeking anInfection Control Surveillance Managerto assist with leading our Infection Control Department.

You will:• Provide support required to monitor and maintain the Hospital Infection Control Program.• Oversee and supervise all surveillance projects within the department.• Surveillance for SSI/ CLABSI/CAUTI/multidrug-resistant organisms and all other data requirements related to infection surveillance.• Maintain responsibility for surveillance projects and assignments of surveillance specialists.• Assure work is completed efficiently, accurately and timely. Educate and train specialists as needed. Assure all regulatory requirements are in compliance.• Act as administrator for the National Healthcare Surveillance Network(NHSN), a national database for infection data.• Based on the site-specific risk assessments, develop surveillance indicators for each site.

You have:• Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of recent experience in infection control setting.• Certification in Infection Control required.
