Job Description

At MSK, we’re running one of the largest clinical trials programs for cancer in the country, and at any time we are conducting hundreds of clinical trials to improve cancer care.GMT (Gastric and Mixed Tumor) service, Department of Surgery is seeking aResearch Project Associate. In this role, you will perform data collection, quality control and data analysis for research projects, databases, and research protocols with a focus on retrospective databases for gastric cancer and Merkel cell carcinoma within MSKCC. You will be responsible for data/project management activities and for data accuracy and integrity associated with clinical research.

You will:

  • Participate in special projects and task forces as determined by management.

  • Utilize appropriate methodologies to collect patient information

  • REDCap database set-up; quality control; transfer to dataset for analysis

  • Perform data queries utilizing tools like MS Access and relationship tables

  • Basic descriptive data analysis via SPSS, SAS, STATA, or other computer package; work with research team members on more complex data analyses

  • Generate reports to all necessary parties on the progress and provide annual reports for each disease type.

  • Assist with high-level departmental projects requiring data management support; provide data entry solutions as needed. Ensure data privacy and data security.

  • Work with research and clinical fellows on retrospective data projects.

  • Work with the offshore team to ensure data collection and perform regular audits to ensure that the data collected is complete and accurate and to ensure that the research project was carried out as outlined.

  • Ensure that workflow is controlled and meets departmental needs. Manages ongoing departmental projects and creates processes to ensure that goals are met.

  • Participate or coordinate on both interdepartmental and intradepartmental organization-wide research projects as requested.

  • Provide leadership, organizational, creative, or clerical support to established and new research initiatives.

You Are:

  • Able to operate effectively, even when things are not clear or the way forward is not obvious.

  • Excellent at communication and able to communicate issues, progress, updates on projects and ongoing data collection.

  • Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.

  • Action-oriented and eager to embrace new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

  • Well versed with MS Office and MS Access in particular.

  • Able to shift between projects and diseases.

You need:

  • A High School Diploma/GED with experience in clinical research or applicable experience.

  • At least 2 years of clinical research experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal HHS regulations regarding human subjects protection (45 CFR 46), the HIPAA Privacy Rule (45CFR 160,164), the FDA (21 CFR 50, 21 CFR 56).

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the regulations pertaining to human subject protection (including 21 CFR and 45 CFR 46 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
