As an integral member of the research team and in compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements, performs data collection, quality control and data analysis for research projects, databases, and research protocols within MSKCC. Responsible for data/project management activities and for data accuracy and integrity associated with clinical research within the disease management team and/or service specific level. Participates in special projects and task forces as determined by management.We are seeking a Research Project Associate to join the Thoracic Oncology Service within the Department of Medicine. Perform abstraction of data from patient/human subject charts (e.g., laboratory or diagnostic test results, treatments delivered, medical history, etc.).
Maintain databases for Investigator Initiated and Industry Sponsor led clinical trials and research projects.
Lead record review and data/source documentation reconciliation efforts for audit preparedness.
Independently develop reports (e.g. DSMC, toxicities, minimal data set, CRR) and performs advanced queries for Principal Investigator (PI), disease management team, sponsoring agency, Institutional Review Board/Privacy Board (IRB/PB), etc., as needed.
Perform regular queries of pertinent data that are formatted and presented in accordance with Institutional standards, Investigator’s or Sponsor’s preference, and within the specified timeframe.
Assist in the training of new team members and provides ongoing data/systems related education for the research team.
Independently compile and analyzes data for abstracts, manuscripts and presentations.
Work with Manager on service/departmental level data reporting for Service Chief or investigator(s).
Independently prioritize and schedule work activities to ensure that workflow is controlled and meets the needs of the service/department.
Communicate and maintain institutional/department policies, procedures, quality standards, improvement initiatives, and external legal regulations/regulatory requirements.
Anticipate the impact of special needs or requests on daily workload and existing projects and implements plans to meet these needs.
Independently analyze issues, provides appropriate feedback, and takes appropriate (corrective) action, as needed.
Independently provide responsibility for research data activities for a research project, database, or protocol.
Participate or coordinate on both interdepartmental and intradepartmental organization-wide research projects as requested. Provide leadership, organizational, creative, or clerical support to established and new research initiatives.
Communicate with PI and Manager when issues or questions arise regarding applicable research projects, database, and/or protocols. Meet regularly with PI and Manager to review study and data progress.
Adept at learning quickly and applying insights from past efforts to new situations.
An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding.
Action-oriented and eager to embrace new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
