Job Description

MSKCC is a world leader in cancer care and is on the forefront of innovative technologies and approaches in radiotherapy. MSK Radiation OncologyandMedical Physicsprograms are spread across eight facilities including two each in Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey and the Westchester region north of New York City. Campus wide, we treat approximately 650 cancer patients per day. The Radiotherapy Physics Service is staffed with over 120 physicists and planners providing a rich, stimulating work environment. We have a strong philosophy that all facilities will provide outstanding treatment quality that is consistent across our facilities as well as contributing to the overall mission of the center to advance the state of cancer care.

MSK has a large, cutting-edge program in all aspects of radiation oncology physics that seeks to improve the clinical effectiveness of radiation therapy in partnership with radiation oncologists, radiologists and other medical professionals. Many new programs are ongoing, including: improved treatment planning optimization algorithms, integration of MR and PET imaging into radiotherapy decision making and treatment planning, 4D imaging and motion management, and the development of adaptive radiotherapy processes (www.mskcc.org/departments/medical-physics). By late 2019, MSK radiation oncology and medical physics resources will include thirty linear accelerators, six HDR units, eight CT Simulators, one PET/CT Simulator, two MRI Simulators, as well as state-of-the-art inter- and intra-fractional imaging and motion management capabilities.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has an opening within the Radiotherapy Physics Service of the Department of Medical Physics for twoTreatment Planning Coordinators. The primary role of the Treatment Planning Coordinator is to support the enterprise-wide scheduling of planning activities, workload and general operations within the group.

You Will:

  • Provide scheduling support including assisting with daily assignments of treatment planning tasks

  • Gather clinical information required for planning

  • Monitor workflow and pre-planning communication

  • Facilitate efficient transfer of information and patient care between MSK facilities.

  • Provide general operational support including assistance with treatment plan documentation

  • Facilitate staff access to clinical or procedural information

  • Post policies and procedures

You Have:

  • This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to process multiple sources of information in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team (planners, physicists, therapists, radiation oncologists) are essential.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent or training as a radiation therapist (RTT) is required.

  • Thorough understanding of radiation oncology practices and workflow is strongly preferred#LI-POST
